My gear shift indicators read: P,R,N,D(w/circle), 2, and 1. Does this indicate that I have a three speed with OD? Or is it a four speed? I have a 97 windstar 3.8L 116,000 miles and still going. I have driven a chevy and the gear shift indicators read P,R,N,D(W/CIRCLE),3,2,1? Is it just the companies build things different for thier vehicles or jus to confuse the consumers?

You have a 4spd AX4S transaxle in your 1997. Usually, if the vehicle doesnt have a seperate 'button' to turn on/off the OD (4th gear), It will have "PRND321" on the stalk/floor shifter.
