Since your transmission has overdrive and has lasted you 100,000 I'd just get it re-built and have a shift kit put in. Then you don't have to mess with drive shafts, or shift linkage.
It shouldn't cost all that much to have done, and most transmission shops will pick it up from your house, and return it re-built the next day. Some might even have an exchange policy.
With Transmission shops look more at the warranty, not the price... and ask for some customer referances.
And when your engine goes replace it with a 350 built the way you want it.
