chevy venture van fuel problem

i have a problem with a 98 model venture van, i have replaced the fuel pump at 80,000 miles was the first time then agian i replaced it at 120,000 and at this time we have 140,000 miles we are still having problems. would some electrical problem cause the pump to fail or is there a sensor that we need to look at that would cause the problem? now at this time we have not taken the pump out to look at. we know it isnt the fuel filter cause when we take it off there is pressure behind the filter and there isnt any pressure at the front and the filter is clean cause we replaced it recently.

What I think this means is that if you remove the filter completely, then turn the key, fuel will spray from the line coming from the pump, correct? Seems to me, that would rule out the pump, unless it's not putting out the correct amount of pressure.

This is confusing. Pressure at the front of what? The front of the filter? Or at the fuel rail? If you mean the filter, are you sure you installed it the right way? Did you try blowing thru it to be sure it isn't clogged?

Or am I completely misreading what you mean? I think you better take another crack at your explanation.

Do you have a manual for the van & are you following the troubleshooting steps for the fuel system? It will show you exactly what you have to look at, in what sequence, where to hook up fuel pressure gauges, what the line pressures should be (supply & return), how to test the regulator, relays, etc

Re: chevy venture van fuel problem

okay, what i am saying is that when you take off the fuel filter there pressure built up behind the filter and gas sprays everywhere when you loosen the connectors. i am asking if there are electrical problems that has to do anything with that?
