02 sensor question

I replaced my CAT, because it was clogged. I didn't go with OEM and now I am getting this code that the CAT is running below threshold. What can be done to make the code go away. The dealership said that I could go non OEM but now this pesky code keeps coming up. How does someone get away with putting a catback system on their car and keep this code from coming up. Am I going to have to live with this prob?

Your subject is a little vague - "O2 sensor question", but you're talking about your catalytic converter. Anyway, does this code show anywhere on your dashboard? Or you get the code when you do the self diagnostic test? Usually, the trouble code is stored in your car's computer (ECU). What you can do is to remove the fuse for your ECU or disconnect the negative(black) cable on your car battery for 1 minute and then reconnect the cable back. That should erase any trouble codes in your car's computer - this works on Japanese cars, but I am not sure about American cars. But you can try.

yes the check engine light comes on. I believe the 02 sensor by the cat is causing the problems.

If you have a foreign car, then you can do what I've mentioned before - disconnect the black cable on your car battery and then reconnect it back. That should turn off the "check engine" light on your dashboard. My "check engine" light turned on on my '96 Acura 2.5TL about a month ago and everyone was telling me that it was the O2 sensors that were bad. So, I bought two universal O2 sensors and replaced both, but the check engine light still came back on and my car was still stalling. After the frustration I went through with changing both O2 sensors - I found the real problem that was causing my car stalling & the engine light on. It was one of the spark plug that went bad. So I replaced the spark plug and the stalling problem & engine light went away. If you know it's for sure that the O2 sensor at the CAT is bad then change it. But I would check on the spark plugs first. Because the spark plugs play an important role in your engine too - if it's not burning all of the fuel, then it will tell the computer that either your car is burning too rich or lean.
