4x4 S10 Blazer What Transmission

I am looking to do an engine swap into a Jeep Cherokee, I will be using a 3800 "C" engine and ECM. I am trying to find out what transmission I can use with this ESM. Does anybody have any clues to the following questions??

1. Is the bellhousing bolt pattern on a 4.1 the same as a 3800 (fwd) 1988 C engine??

2. What year did the 700r4 transmission have a VSS but not electronicly shifted by the PCM (still used a vacuum modulator)????

Any reply to the above would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
