if synthetic mixes with regular oil ..now.....
why the need to do a flush.........
i understand wanting to get the regular oil out...to have only synth in..but..........would it hurt not to flush..and just do an oil&filter?

It wont. Synthetic oils are compatible with normal oils. Synthetics being bad for cars is a myth. Get a good synthetic though its worth the extra money. Valvoline or mobile 1, castrol. none of that other crap. Ive been running Valvoline full synthetic in my truck for 103,000 miles and i would never run anything else in it. runs like the day i bought it.

You do a flush to get all the conventioanl oil sludge out of the engine so it is clean for the new oil.

Synthetics are so good that they will essentially clean your engine itself but the drawback is that it will get dirty real fast when you switch over.

With the flush, you won't go through that.

Also note, there are only a few REAL TRUE synthetics on the market, the rest are made from conventional oil and are not even close to the real thing.

Only true Synthetics are:

Mobil 1
Amsoil
German Castrol Syntec 0w30 only (Look on the back of the bottle, it has to be made in Germany to be full synthetic)
Esso XD-3 Synthetic (0w30/0w40 only) (Available in Canada only)
Redline
Schaeffers

All the rest are NOT true synthetics, but are hydrocracked conventional oils.

Does this apply to Castrol Syntec 5-30 as well? They state fully synthetic on the bottle(but perhaps that is a loose term), however I have not checked to see where produced.

Neither the castrol Syntec or the Valvoline Synthetic are true synthetics.

Only Castrol Syntec that is a true synthetic is the 0w30 which is made in Germany. There is a Syntec 0w30 made in the US as well, and it is not a true synthetic.

They are synthetically altered conventional oil.
