96 GC dead dash panel, no startkiv 01-28-2005, 11:55 AM Ok, here's the scenario: 96 Grand Cherokee was running fine when I shut it off. Next day, got in to leave, turned ignition switch and - nothing! no starter click, no dash lights, no heater fan, no radio, no blinkers, no wipers. However, headlights & tailights work. Ignition switch courtesy light works, Overhead & door lights work. Ignition warning bell (door ajar) rings. All fuses resistance check ok and have voltage to them at the blocks. Replaced igniton switch; no joy. ($35 down the drain...sigh). Do I have a bad plug or connector from the engine compartment to the interior? I'm baffled and don't know where to go next... Kiv Cam7 01-30-2005, 06:42 AM Try to see if it starts in neutral might be a bad Neutral saftey switch. If not go un hook the neutral saftey switch and jump the terminals on the electrical connection with a jumper wire. Make sure it is in PARK before starting. Another check is to try jumping the starter with a start button if you dont have one use a screwdriver and jump the big terminal to the smaller one agian make sure it is in PARK. also you could have a bad starter relay located in the power distribution center. BLAZT 01-30-2005, 04:53 PM I had the same problem with my 93 Grand Cherokee. It would come and go for a couple of months until my Jeep wouldn't start one day due to the same problem. I took it to the mechanic and the Starter relay was bad. I replaced it brand new for about $ 300.00. Used was about $120.00. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
