E46 Timing Belt?

what is the standard mileage for timing belt replacement on an E46 323i if anybody knows please help/ I have a high pitched whine on very cold start mornings and am unsure if related to 73k w/o new timing belt or if any one has an idea if this cold noise is something to be concern about

I think you will find that they have a timing chain but I may be wrong.

Re: E46 Timing Belt?

I Checked And You Are Quite Right/ Do You Know About The Secondary Air Pump Perhaps Causing The Squeeling Noise On Cold Starts?? What About A Looseness In The Front End Suspension? Had Control Arms Done At 67k Now Has 73k They Couldnt Go That Quickly Could They?

Not sure on that, does the squeeling go once warmed up,if so you may have a loose drive belt or belt tensioner seizing. All the best.
