Buying a new car from the continent

My dad is thinking of buying a car from the continent. He has asked for my help. What he would like to know is, is it a good idea to buy a car from the continent rather than one from the UK? The car he is interested in purchasing is a brand new Peugoet 406 diesel. What is running in his favour is the fact that the company in question is offering a huge saving on this car. The company comes across as a well organised and trustworthy company. However my dad would really appreciate any comments on other peoples experiences from buying from the continent. Is doing this a good idea? Has anyone experienced any bad situations from buying a new car abroad? This is a very big decision for my dad to make as buying a new car is quite an expensive and daunting venture especially as it involves buying a new car from a different country.

Any help, suggestions and comments would be hugely appreciated and my dad and I would be grateful of any assistance that could be offered. Thank you.
