startup bearing rattle

04 Regular cab, 2800 4 cyl. The truck starts ther instant you hit the key, and I get a dry bearing rattle for about a half second, mains or rods , I am not sure which, or mabey it is just the lifters.also have a big body rattle on passenger side when someone is in passenger seat. Appears back of body is resting on frame and when bumps are encountered it thumps.

Also have wind noise , I think caused by mirrors. Otherwise like it good.

Re: startup bearing rattle

Probably just lifter noise and it's harmless. Take it in to make sure, though. Could possibly be a bad anti-drainback valve in your oil filter.

Re: startup bearing rattle

Had an Olds with the DOHC engine that did that. Bugged me to death as I'm pretty particular. Realized that when the wife started it, no noise. figured out that when I started it, I'd turn the key on and wait for a few seconds for the fuel pressure to build, fast start. The wife just twisted the key direct to start, the engine would turn a few revs before starting, build oil pressure, no noise. Worth a try?
