window hard to roll up/down in the coldneoncrazed 01-21-2005, 03:19 PM As the temps get lower and lower here in the NorthEast, it becomes harder to roll my (manual) windows up and down. I am having to apply so much force, I am afraid something's gonna break. Is there any way to improve this situation? (I know, I know, drive it into a wall, or push it into a lake...hehe) 1997 Dodge Neon 4-door jsgold 01-22-2005, 12:52 AM This is a common problem for ALL manual roll up windows. The only thing you can do is remove the interior door panel and put some lightweight grease on the rollers, gears, or slide pcs. that you can reach. I never had to do this with our 98 Neon so I don't know particulars, but should not be a big deal except for the nasty weather. Most panels have "snaps" you can pop out with a screwdriver, or, preferably a special tool(cheap) and removing armrests etc. There should also be a plastic film inside (be carefull not to rip, needs to go back and seal). Might want to get a Haynes manual or similar to guide you, as sometimes the hardest thing to remove is the crank. Or, someone here may be able to guide you better. Never hurts to have pictures though. I have a Blazer and Explorer that HAS to have this every year or so or they really give me fits. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
