My 1994 929 recently started overheating, when idling for any long length of time. I was going to replace the thermostat and replace fluid, Is there anything else I should check or change to cover all my basis.

Check for flow through the radiator. Feel the top and bottom hoses are they both hot. the radiator could be getting restricted.
