I have a 99 Silverado 4x4 Z71 with the 4.8. I had to change the power steering gear box last week, which wasnt to bad.As soon as I pulled it out of the garage,it idles pretty rough.I was never near any of the fuel/electrical lines.
I drove it down the road and the Service engine light came on..had it checked and it said no activity in the O2 sensor on bank 2.
Yes, from my understanding, the readout from the O2 sensor is part of the equation the computer uses to determine how much gas to feed into the motor. So, it can make the truck run rough.
But before you replace it, be sure to check the wires and connections leading to it; maybe you knocked the connection lose working on the power steering.

Thanks,..thats what I thought..and my buddys dog chewed part of the grommet on the shield so he may have gotten under the truck and did more.I never had any probllem like this prior to the gear box change, and it started immediately afterwards.
