Emmissions NOT READY after replacing O2 Sensorsstephiep 01-20-2005, 12:30 PM Hi All, I have a general question regarding Emmissions. My Sportage (1996, 2.0L, 5-speed) failed it's emmissions test recently (Dec). I took it to the shop and had both O2 Sensors replaced, and a Fuel Injection Flush. I drove the vehicle for approximately 150 miles, returned to the testing station and the following systems came back NOT READY: Catalyst, EVAP System, O2 Sensor, O2 Heater, EGR System. Here's what I have tried: Disconnected Battery, reconnected after 20 minutes, drove approx. 150 miles, retested - NOT READY, same systems. Performed full drive cycle from cold, approx. 50 miles straight, did NOT turn off engine after drive cycle, retested straight from Drive Cycle - NOT READY, same systems. I finally took it back to the shop, they hooked up a portable "Snap On" unit and I physically saw the O2 sensors and heaters showing values, changing up and down as they should. Additionally, I had the Kia Manufacturers recommended sensors put in, not some generic counterpart. Is there anything that springs to mind that could be causing this, one person did say I needed to have the computers BIOS flashed to reset the computer. Any second opinions or agreement with this would be welcome. Thanks, Stephanie... PS Additionally I had it tested at 2 different testing stations, no fault codes were found. I finally went to the Waiver station on Friday, and they told me it didn't make sense. So, because they were curious, they performed an emmissions test, and all systems were on and passed. Felt kind of stupid! I had performed a full drive cycle, on top of about 200 miles, and another 200 miles after that, it seems as though I just simply had to do a few more miles. I took it back to the same inspection place, and again it passed no problem. So in summary, I had to drive between 400-500 miles before the systems came online!!
