2003 Impala LS
I have a list of 13 items that are wrong with my Impala. I will only address a few of them here. The car has 21,000 miles; since 10,000 the brakes have pulsated and squeaked. We have had it to the dealerhip mech 3 times, once he machined them and 2 weeks later they are squeaking again!
On 6 occasions when hanging up from a call on the car phone, the lights on the dash come on and dim, along with the headlights, and the RPM's drop to 200. This has happened going 70 down the interstate or 35 in town. Very troubling to be on the interstate when this happens! Also there is aloud popping sound through the speakers when the call is complete and this occurs.
We came back from a 10 day vacation to find our car would not start. I called On Star from the cell phone and was told it would be atleast 1 hour before they could send help. Luckily the airport parking was able to jump us. We were out in the cold with a 1 year old & 2 year old when this happened! On Star did a diagnosis and said they probably drained the battery because the GPS checks the location ever so often, blah blah blah. Hasn't happened since, but we also haven't let it sit that long.
Our dealership is no help. The mechanic offers no solutions or fixes. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and are pursuing buyback from GM. If this doesn't go through then we will obviously be stuck getting the issues addressed. Any suggestions to these items?
Also our gear shift on atleast 10 different occasions makes a very loud clicking sound when going from P to R or D. Or from D to P. And it moves very rough, feels like it's going to fall apart. Normally it moves with out notice of sound or feel. This has happened during winter and summer conditions. We are concerned it could be in the transmission, though we feel it in the actual shifter when moved. The mechanic will not look into it any further because all the tests they do come back normal.
We will not be taking it back to this dealership if things do not get resolved through GM. But they have you at their mercy when you have to take it to a GM mechanic for warranty work. We have been told our rotors are warped by a family mechanic, the dealer denies you can tell this by looking at them. We're told you can tell by the hit & miss spots on the rotors.
If anyone can give some more advice or suggestions I would appreciate it!
