why is my 90 gts so slow?

i have a 1990 gts i like the car but its too damm slow its the slowest version since 1984 why is this could anyone tell me why when i bought this i was hoping to have a decently fast car but i got beat in a race by a ford ranger

Errrrr....cause its not a fast car, did you not test drive it before you bought it?????

slow...but ull still take most hondas and intergras that pull up next to you as logn as there not vtec

basiaclly in a Dohc motor you have 2 sets of valves (were gunna focuz only on one side...intake) intake and exhaust, and you have 2 valves per set... only one opens and closes during normal dirving (and in normal cars) the leeft one open then rthe right and it keeps goin like that , and they have the same lift and the same lobes....but then theres a special lobe right in the midle of the 2 vales...and when a scertain amount of oil pressure is attained (higher rpms) a little pin locks the 2 valves together and makes it so the rocker arm basically goes to the bigger lobe on the camshaft...thus creating more lift and allows (technically) twice as much air into the intake ports

Im Not Sure Probably A V6 Anyways Im Going 2 Fix It Up Some And That Wont Be An Issue Anymore

haha a 92 ford ranger is a v6...my dad has one, so easy to get sideways in that thing
