is there anyway way that i can check the functionability of this sensor with a meter or other inexpensive tool? (1988 chevy 2.8 v6 FWD)

i've had this sensor go bad in the past, and recently i've had the same type of symptoms during the same type of weather. the obd test did not reveal any trouble codes either. i was just wondering if this was at all possible to test since i don't have a sensor tester.

also, any other input is appreciated on this problem.

there is no spark to the plugs. i hope it isnt the 150 dollar ignition module (again!)

The test for the sensor should be an rpm signal when cranking. You will see this on a scan tool. Does the fuel pump run? The ECM needs to see a pulse or it won't turn the pump on. Remove the sensor and check the value with an ohm meter. If it gives some reading other than open or short, switch too AC volts. A 2 volt setting will work for starters. Hook the meter to the terminals with whatever you can and rapidly pass a screw driver back and forth past the opposite end and the faster you go the higher the reading. If it works the sensor is probably fine. There is a test called a scratch test for fooling the module into sparking. I used it a few times but don't recall the wire color. I think it is purple. Bare the wire and scratch a jumper to ground would produce spark if the module and coils were good. The tip can be found in just about any GM manual for your era vehicle Under No start, no spark.

my 95 z34 is sitting.....have been told it's everything from the codes, to the crankshaft sensors, to the ignition module, to the coil packs. does anyone have a similar prob?
