exhaust?
Hey guys, how would a 40 series flowmaster with a single 3" in/out followed with a 4" tip sound? Would that setup be on the quiet side, because i don't like a loud exhuast tone inside the cabin.

Re: exhaust?
A 40 series is gonna be kinda noisy in the cab. I know my single in dual out one is. Over time it just seems to get louder. I'm not sure how the single in/out will work.

Re: exhaust?
a Gibson setup wont be too loud in the cab. But still sound good on the outside.

Re: exhaust?
I'm thinking of switching to a 70 series, or either Magnaflow's. My Flowmaster isn't but 2 years old and a hole is already developing in it.

I,too, love my magnaflows!!!!
For the original post- I would look more toward a straight through designed muffler, such as a magnaflow or a Borla turbo muffler. Either of these mufflers will give you an increase in sound, but won't be loud in the cab, such as a chambered muffler. They also flow better.

Greetings Slow and others,
I'm curious why on new 2003/4/5 Chevy Silverados that come with stainless steel exhaust systems that will likely last 10 years or more - why people are so eager to switch them out for aftermarket systems that may last 3 or 4 years and cost $500 or $600. Sound just doesn't seem to be nearly enough motivation for what they give up. With my 6 liter high output engine and 345 hp - will an exhaust system switch give me better mileage or more performance? I don't need the sound increase to be happy and frankly don't understand why people need "louder" - yet want a quiet running truck :-)
Catch U later,
White Lightening

Re: exhaust?
I haven't owned a vehicle that I kept the factory exhaust on. It's just a thing with me. I love the sound aftermarket allows, and at the same time, I also gained a little power. I also had big plans to mod this truck, and factory exhaust would be too restrictive. Never did many mods to it, just liked the sound too much to go back to factory.

Re: exhaust?
Same here, I just felt that the factory setup was to restrictive for me. Also, I just loved the look and sound of the stetup I have now. I guess this only being my second vehicle...(first being an 89' tarus)...I love this truck and just wanted to make it a little different from the others.
