Question mileage

Hello everyone,
I have a question about mileage, I have a 2001 taco 4x4 trd with 5 spd manual and 16 tires. I am getting 15 mpg and I believe I should be getting better. I don't race, get it in 5th as soon as possible and keep it there but mileage still sucks. I bought it used with 70,000, put a new air filter, new oil and filter and no difference. I'm running Laredo raised letter 16 in tires with alloy wheels at 31 lbs. Anyone have any suggestions, I'm looking at "the Turbinator" as it boasts a 5-6 mpg increase comes with 30 day unconditional guarantee but not sure about anything else. I'm thinking plugs next but it seems to run great and start great. Suggestions please!!!!!! thanks!!

Re: mileage

Turbinator is snake oil. Don't waste your money. If it made any difference, every vehicle sold would have one from the factory.

Re: mileage

Describe your driving conditions other than getting in 5th gear as quick as possible. Do you make lots of short runs or long runs, in the city or on expressways, is the area hilly or level. All these factors can affect fuel mileage.

What can you do to help? Drive like you have an egg between your foot and the gas pedal. Try to avoid short runs and stop lights. If you don't mind a hard ride try about 3 lb more air in the tires. I believe spending your money on the Turbinator is about equal to throwing your money in a fire. You can get better fuel mielage but it does take some of the fun out of driving. Consider that cold weather isn't good for fuel mileage.
