Sienna Transaxle / Transmission Warranty.vic000 01-14-2005, 09:33 AM This forum is great! I learnt here that my 1999 Sienna's transmission (transaxle) warranty was extended to 8 years / 100,000 miles. Here is my story: My automatic transmission leaked out on the highway mid 2004. I called Toyota dealers and they said that I was out of warranty as my car had 75,000 miles on it, and so I let a local repair shop fix it. I was expecting a $500 bill for a blown seal, but I ended up with a $1800 bill for replacement of a motor and a coupling and a seal. Then, one day I thought I was losing power again and I panicked. This time, however, I had the time and presence of mind to search the web and I landed up here and learnt about the warranty extension. The next day I called the Toyota 800 number and they said they are not aware of any warranty extension, but I was connected to the corporate head office after I insisted that two people had reported this on the Internet and so it must be accurate: They then admitted that there was a TRANSAXLE warranty entension, which is the one and the same thing. Bottom line: With proper documentation, they reimbursed me my $1800 expense and now my transmission is under warranty again, giving me considerable peace of mind. vivili 12-12-2005, 04:07 PM vic000, Is it possible you can provide me more info about the TRANSAXLE warranty entension?
