Need help quick.Kiwihonda 01-14-2005, 03:16 AM Can anybody tell me what they have done when installing a new intake pipe and pod filter. What have you done to the little black box that is under the standard intake pipe? My intake pipe needs to go right where it is and i'm just wondering if its ok to remove it. Its right above the engine mount and its a vacumn housing to silence the air flow. Someone must be able to tell me. Thanks mpumas 01-14-2005, 01:49 PM What year and is it right hand drive? Intake pipe? or manifold? Pod filter? There are some terms I don't recognize. Igovert500 01-14-2005, 05:54 PM if it is a resonator...you can remove it, if it is a fuse box, you can't...honestly I don't have a 96, so I don't know what the engine bay looks like off the top of my head. A suggestion, go to www.cardomain.com, look at some 96 accords, most people on that site mod their cars and have engine bay pics, so perhaps you will be able to see what they did...or at least find a picture and post the link, so that we can visually see which black box you are refering to. Kiwihonda 01-17-2005, 03:10 AM Im talking about an intake pipe and pod filter. Not the manifold. Its a right hand drive. On the bottom side of the standard intake pipe there is a black tube that comes off it and runs back towards the airbox. It leads to a black box which has a small tube running off the top of it. My mate told me today that on another mates accord they just undid a few bolts and moved it out of the way. I just want to know if anyone has removed this box completely, cause it has an electrical plug on it, and i dont want it to stuff my engine up. I have seen a picture of the box removed and the guy had put some tape over the plug to keep the dust out and had capped the pipe that runs off the box to the manifold. Im putting it in tomorrow morning (New Zealand time) so any replies in the next 12 hours would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. and its a 96 lxi 2.2 sohc Ehscrewdude 01-17-2005, 12:02 PM Do whatever u want, it wont kill ur engine, and if ur talkin about what i think u are then u shuld be fine. Are u talking about the black stock intake pipe that runs down the side and into the box that holds ur air filter? If so then u can go ahead and remove it (the pipe and the box, as long as u are putting in a cold air intake or short ram intake, otherwise im not sure why u would take it out Kiwihonda 01-17-2005, 02:57 PM hey man. im not actually talking about the airbox, i know its ok to remove that, but just behind the battery there is a little box. do u have an accord? give me an email and i'l email you some pics of the box im talkin about. my email is bigg_e_small@hotmail.com. Kiwihonda 01-17-2005, 05:37 PM I have put the new intake pipe (short ram) and pod filter in and ended up taking the little black box out. so i have now completely removed the entire old intake pipe and air box. i took the car for a drive and it worked fine. and it sounds bloody awesome. still if anyone wants to know what little black box i'm talking about is then drop me an email and i'l send you some pics.
