2001 Ford Ranger HelpSplinz 01-14-2005, 12:58 AM My Ranger Check Engine Light came on this week. I didn't notice any immediate problems upon engine inspection, so I un-hooked and reconnected the battery cables, and I'm assuming the light reset itself b/c it went away. Today I noticed while driving, if I place the truck in nuetral or park, and rev the engine to about 3000 rpm, the motor seems to skip somewhat, and will not rev up over about 3500 rpm. Any advice on what could be the problem? I'm assuming something in the fuel line, or bad plugs. Can I service it myself? Thanks Splinz The engine will not let you rev under no load above 300-3500 and the missing is the engine hitting the rev limiter. rodeo02 01-19-2005, 06:50 PM The engine will not let you rev under no load above 300-3500 and the missing is the engine hitting the rev limiter. True, but it's more like 5000 RPM for these trucks. Splinz- the only way to tackle this is read the code if it comes back. Autozone will read it for free, or the $39 generic code readers from harbor freight tools work well too. G/luck Joel Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
