possible to convert b18a1 to vtecspawnliban 01-12-2005, 03:59 PM thats 93 integra was wondering if i can make dat into vtec ... thanks CivicSpoon 01-12-2005, 04:36 PM It's called an LS/VTEC. You put a B-series vtec head (b16a, b16b, b18c1, b18c5) on to it. It's a little more involved that just putting the head on. If you do a search for LSvtec then you'll come up with a ton of info on it. But there's no way to make your stock head have vtec. spawnliban 01-12-2005, 04:47 PM lol im so confused what is LS/VTEC stuff. I hear its better to go with that than getting a gsr engine. CivicSpoon 01-12-2005, 06:01 PM It's where you take the short block of your LS motor and put a (for discussion sake let's say a GS-R head) onto the LS block. So basically you're making your LS motor a vtec motor. A lot of people say that the LS/VTEC is better than a GS-R power wise, but I personally don't. You can't rev the LS/vtec as high as the GSR block, because of the rod-stroke ratio. Eventually after reving it high often, the rods start pushing the pistons into the cylinder walls. This scrapes them up and will eventually push the piston(s) thru the cylinders. So even though the gsr head and ECU redline will allow you to rev it higher than a stock LS can; it's what the LS block is capable of reving to that you need to watch out for. It doesn't mean you can't rev the motor higher than the stock LS, but too much too often will destroy your motor; especially if the motor isn't built correctly. spawnliban 01-12-2005, 06:47 PM Umm really its that easy to have LS motor to Vtec? juss add GS-R header? 97integrals 01-12-2005, 07:04 PM did you read anything that was just posted? spawnliban 01-12-2005, 07:22 PM lol im learnin yo...chill CivicSpoon 01-12-2005, 07:45 PM :disappoinOk, one last time. For an LS/VTEC conversion... Take your LS head off the block, you're not going to use that head anymore. Then buy a GSR, B16a, or Type R head; and you will be using this new head for your motor. There is more to it than just slapping on the head and calling it a day, if you want to find out more on the whole thing do a search on AF and google. The B-series vtec header (aka exhaust manifold) will not fit on an LS head. spawnliban 01-12-2005, 09:33 PM lol ok thanks man.....sorry for being so slow JDMsweetz 01-13-2005, 02:15 AM Remember, when you learn, being slow isn't the problem, not taking in information is. Just slow down and read whats posted. This post not intended to be a pun at all, just giving you the heads up. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
