Fast car, Under $10,000vincentAMG 01-11-2005, 03:46 PM I'm searching for my first car. Has to be under $10k, used, under 90k miles. I want something relatively fast. I like sedans, but not limited to them. Could anyone give me a list of (5+)cars in this price range? It would be really helpful. I need a car in about a month.. So I need to start searching now. Thanks, John alphalanos 01-11-2005, 03:47 PM it all depends what you want. there are tons of cars under 10g. you need to narrow it down, tell us what you like and dont like. vincentAMG 01-11-2005, 04:03 PM I edited my first post just a bit, I like 4 door sedans also MexSiR 01-11-2005, 06:13 PM 1)Golf GTI 150 hp 1.8 T 2)CRX Si 3)Civic Si 99 4)Neon R/T 2001 5)Mustang GT 98 6)Mustang 5.0 7)BMW 328i 1995 Those cars arent fast or anything...they wont brake the 15s mark, but you can call them Quick danny350 01-11-2005, 06:29 PM The newer 5.0 mustangs were high 14 second cars, but for about a grand you could be in the high 12's. kman10587 01-11-2005, 06:47 PM For sedans, my top recommendation would be a 92-95 BMW 325i. Or if you want something a bit newer, the 95-99 Nissan Maxima SE. For any type of car (not just sedans), my top recommendation would be the 93-97 Chevy Camaro Z28/Pontiac Trans Am. vincentAMG 01-11-2005, 09:41 PM yeah, that's my type of style kman. I have one question. Most BMW 325i or Maxima se's for sale around my area are over 100k miles. How long do you think it would run before it would need repairs/breakdown? I know it's a vague question, but I dont know much about lifetimes. kman10587 01-12-2005, 12:08 AM Not sure about the Maxima, but I've heard they're pretty reliable. My mom had a 1990 Maxima SE and we kept it until 120,000 miles, not one problem. The BMW, if properly cared for, will last 250,000+ miles easily (I've seen it in person more than once). Sebring LXi I wouldn't exactly call my Sebring LXi quick. I sure looks fast, but then again I'm used to a turbo. Hell, if anyone wants one I would be willing to sell mine. It is a 98, has 69,000 miles on it, and it is in very good condition. I found another LeBaron GTC for sale and I want to buy it, but I can't if I have the Sebring. Still not what I'd call a quick car though. Neutrino 01-14-2005, 10:55 AM I found another LeBaron GTC for sale and I want to buy it, :slap: Mopar-head :p Master Hiko 01-14-2005, 12:09 PM haha 'The LeBaron'. i always loved saying that. if 'The LeBaron' could talk, i think it would refer to itself in 3rd person as 'The LeBaron'.......see "Cheaper by the Dozen" for references. Polygon 01-14-2005, 12:21 PM :slap: Mopar-head :p So sue me! :icon16: Master Hiko 01-14-2005, 01:22 PM im assuming that NissanSPDR was talking about a 300ZXTT not an NA but if so, the Z32TT is best car you're gonna get for 10k. feenix z 01-20-2005, 01:08 PM i have a buddy with a 1988 (i think) mazda 626 turbo that, for a relativly small price, he turned into a heavy hitter. Best thing is no one ever sees it comming. He said he's gonna ad of of those "My kid's and all-stater" stickers to it for that real sleeper feel. Also, dont laugh, cuz i'm serious here, the old Chysler Turbo minivans respond very well to upgrades. Someone told me they can do 13's in them if modded enough. Well, there are guys that have some in 12s and I think there is one in the 11s. Doesn't take a whole lot to get them there either. Any one of those cars with the turbo motors can be made to scream. :smokin: DinanM3_S2 01-20-2005, 05:22 PM Yea, I've seen a video somewhere of a guy with an old Dodge Caravan demolishing a Camaro in a 1/4 mile... I love videos involving Camaros getting beaten :) But back on subject, sedan + kinda fast + under $10,000 = E36 3-series or possibly if your very lucky an E30 M3 Dave1669 01-20-2005, 06:33 PM Some good cars to consider: Acura Integra GSR Honda Prelude VTEC Ford Mustang GT Chevrolet Camaro Z28 BMW 3-Series Mitsubishi Eclipse GST/GSX Audi A4 feenix z 01-20-2005, 07:45 PM Dinan, i see we share the same sentiments for camaros! chevydrummer76 01-20-2005, 11:51 PM whats wrong with camaros? you guys get beat by them too often? emokid15 01-21-2005, 12:16 AM Yea, I've seen a video somewhere of a guy with an old Dodge Caravan demolishing a Camaro in a 1/4 mile... Orion24 01-21-2005, 10:14 AM Does anybody know any site that has chart comparissons for cars at these prices? (eg horsepower, dimentions, characteristics, reliability database, price, etc) SuperHighOutput 01-21-2005, 12:39 PM Since this is your first car, I am going to assume you are young, 16-17, and probably don't have much driving experience. The last thing an inexperienced driver needs is a high-performance car. You should go with a sedan, four doors will keep your insurance down. I would recommend either an Accord, or if you want something fast but still very practical a Maxima is your best bet. Even in this case, he'll have most of the experience he needs after half a year of driving, or even a quarter if he drives daily. In fact if he buys a new car, it'll suit him perfect for warming-up the new engine with low-speed driving, meanwhile he gains his experience dampachi 01-21-2005, 02:54 PM get a V8 foxbody mustang with a 5spd. It's quick, but not too fast that you'd get yourself killed in it. Not to mention it's fun. Plus, when you get comfortable with it...theres a whole world of aftermarket for them. Buy a good one for $5,000-$6,500 and save the rest and you can put that into mods. Turbo Meg 01-21-2005, 03:11 PM I would say, 1. 3rd or 4th. Gen F-body 2. Foxbody Mustang 3. 86/87 Turbo Buick ProjectPhantom 01-21-2005, 04:33 PM Does anybody know any site that has chart comparissons for cars at these prices?
