Sad, sad news indeed. I briefly saw a news report which said he died of a heart attack? Maybe that caused him to crash, much like Denny Hulme at Bathurst 1992?

Re: Sad, Sad news...
I''ve read that he suffered the heart attack after the crash (how would they know?). The official KTM press release says "died of his injuries at the scene of the accident". Guess we have to wait for more information, but it does not matter either way. I was always cheering for Fabrizio during Dakars, he was always so emotional, both when he was happy and unhappy. It was going to be his last Dakar, 13th of his career, and it was. Sadly, not the way anyone thought it would be.
This is the second death in this year's race. KTM urged its riders to abandon the rally, but left it to the discretion of the riders and sponsors whether to do so. I hope they don't and continue.
