Father and Son moments...Priceless.CivRacer95 01-10-2005, 06:26 PM I got off work at around 3-3:30ish. My dad was just leaving work at the same exact time. So I decided I would follow him home from work and maybe take a run at him on the freeway :grinno: . So we pull out from the parking lot and come to State St. Behind the two of us, I notice this dark Jetta, with an unpainted body kit of course, and I see the huge wing coming out from the back. Ricer... So the light changes green and my dad and I take off, him in his 3kGT, and me in my little Honda. We manuever around some traffic, and end up at the head of traffic. Thus once again we stop at a light turning onto the Freeway. Looks like the Jetta was trying to play keep up because he was only one car behind me. Finally we get on the freeway, and I punch it, trying DESPERATELY to get by my old man. No Dice. He just floors it and pulls ahead easily :p . We take it to 85 and I follow about 3 car lengths back. About 10 mins later we are coming up to our exit, I didnt' notice at first but the Jetta was behind me. We both hop into the middle lane, and of course you guys no what's going to happen. The Jetta does his fly-by, and my dad noticed. Within 2 seconds he hopped right behind his ass, signalled, and went around to our exit. But unluckily traffic slowed him down with me following behind. The Jetta sped up, swerved around traffic ahead of us and hopped in the same exit :disappoin . Oh goody, looks like he's going into town. 5 Minutes later, we come to the stop light that just enters before Springville. He turns right, along with me and my dad following. My dad is a stud, he pulls up next to him, and paces him at 30, soon enough the Jetta tries, and my dad takes off and whips by him easily, while at the same time I took off following them, and by 70 I passed the Jetta as well, who was still trying. Kinda sad. We turned off main, and headed towards our house, but oh of course, the Jetta did another fly-by before we turned. When we arrived home, my dad and I just laughed at the dude in the Jetta. I commented on how my dad smoked him off the jump. He laughed. Father and Son moments are just so bonding. Wouldn't you agree? LOL. Late... RACER D12 01-10-2005, 06:38 PM Sweet wish my dad liked to race lickem 01-10-2005, 08:29 PM sorry i couldnt resist TreeFrog 01-10-2005, 08:32 PM nice story. does your dad have a VR4? CassiesMan 01-10-2005, 08:35 PM Nice...what year Jetta was it? And what mods do you have to your Civ? I can get away from Civics pretty easily, but the 1.8 Jettas give me a good run. -Jayson- 01-10-2005, 09:59 PM thats so cool, my dad is not into the whole racing thing anymore. He used to own a 78 white stingray Corvette. Man that thing was fast. But he sold it when my older brother turned 16. . .damn. But hes gonna be buying another car soon, i keep pointing him in the direction of all kinds of sport cars. The ones i really press for him to get are a Pontiac GTO, 2005 Mustang GT - i think he likes them alot, Grand Prix GTP, WRX STi-but he wont drive a Subaru, Volvo S60 AWD, and a few others. CivRacer95 01-10-2005, 10:03 PM Sweet father on son action there lol :screwy: F**king Perv... My dad doesn't have a VR4, just the SL model. It's still pretty damn quick for a car of it's age. Well, it's 4 years older than my Civic. He just has a custom catback exhaust on it. As for the Jetta, I don't know, but I figure it was a mid 90's Jetta. I never saw that back of it  , well except for when I passed it after my dad did, but I didn't pay any attention, so I couldn't tell you what kind it was. As for my Civic: I completely forgot to show you guys what kind of goodies I got in store for it. I'll have to find my Digital Cam and take pics. But for now, I'll just tell you. Greddy/Trust axle back exhaust, Tenzo CAI, Unknown brand headers (bought them off a bud who never installed them. They were in his garage for 2 years! How bout that? So I got a good deal on the). Just bought a Comp Cams D16 Camshaft. And I plan on buying either a AEM or Skunk2 Cam Gear, also, I'm going to buy a full cat-back exhaust. I'll take pics of the Cam Shaft and cam Gear when I receive them, same with the catback and later the engine bay when I'm done. But those are future plans that I hope to have done before the spring. I just said screw it with the B18 and decided to get the most out of my little D series before it's done. Late... uranium235powered 01-10-2005, 10:17 PM My dad doesn't have a VR4, just the SL model. He just has a custom catback exhaust on it. Rice....:loser: Lol! I'm joking dude! 3kgt's are sweeeet....I envy the fact that you have a father that is into cars, and that you had so much fun smoking ricers. My family is like anti-cars, so I don't think that this will ever happen to me. Oh well. Its nice seeing Honda Civic's smokin' riced out Jettas from time to time :evillol: i3o2Matt 01-10-2005, 10:54 PM lol awesome! if my dad had a sports car...we'd prolly be doin the same thing...cuz one time he TRIED to keep me behind him in his Explorer sport...emphasis on TRIED... Underground_Killah 01-10-2005, 11:15 PM my dad's f150's getting a new 302 in it... with the headers and dual exaust he's quoting me 425 hp... can't wait too... he said "oh i won't race it" and gave me an evil smile heh. clawhammer 01-10-2005, 11:46 PM Wish my dad would own a car that he could race... street_racer_00 01-11-2005, 12:44 AM Lol...my dad has a 2004 honda accord EX V-6...it's got some balls...he'll never race me, even though it would be a good race between me and him...I'm thinkin I could get my older bro to borrow his car one day and then me and him will line up. GTStang 01-11-2005, 12:46 AM Psssssttt you call that a father son moment! When I was putting a holley 144 roots blower on my 302 in my 83 GT my old man was helping me. He goes to spray PB on a rusted bolt and cause he is now old and blind but won't admit it. He didn't realize the nozzle of the can was pointed at me so shoots a stream of PB clear across the engine bay into my eyes. As the searing burning pain of PB Blaster hitting my eyes blinds me and i try to feel my way to the sink while screaming in pain. I trip on some shit on the floor and crash onto the garage floor. The whole time I can hear but not SEEE!!!!! my old man laughing hysterically at me. Now that is a motherfucking father son moment!!!! :evillol: youngvr4 01-11-2005, 03:10 AM yeah father son moments are nice, i've had a few myself. i'm driving my dad home in his vette and we come to a mustang gt at a light. the guy doesn't notice us on the side of him, even with his window down. so my dad says "smash the horses" meaning rev the motor in old man term, and when i revved the motor up to its 6000 rpm mark, the guy jumped and looked at us with fear, and pulled an illegal u turn immediatly and took off. wrather the guy took of from fear or probably just embarrasment, we laughed all the way home. -The Stig- 01-11-2005, 04:42 AM My father-son moment wasn't too long ago. I went to my dads to have dinner and generally hang out, he opens up the garage and there sitting there is a brand new '03 Mustang GT (auto). This is the first time in my dads life he's been able to afford a car that's fun, everything else has been transport to and from work. So he's itchin to give me a ride in it to show me how sweet it is. It wasn't bad, nothing compared to the Z but it was fun. He's manually shifting the tranny, getting all up on the steering wheel laughing as he goes around corners. I enjoyed watching him act like I was when I was 18... and he's 39. We get back to his place, and I tell him to hop into my Z. I'll show him my toy. I cruise out, to the freeway where he got on it in his GT. I kick it up to 15psi and soon as I hit the onramp, a downhill ramp at that, I mash gas and row through the gears and don't let off till I'm at the top of 4th welllll past 120mph. All I can say is, I've never seen a grown man attempt to grab onto imaginary handles to hold on in my life. His exact words. "The sound it makes when you get on it is trippy... man... that was wild." It was a fun night. :D speedthrill 01-11-2005, 06:53 AM  I can see it in front of my eyes there Matt, lol only not with the correct faces, nicely written. fcdriver 01-11-2005, 10:34 AM Well since we're all sharing some father and son moments I guess I could show how much fatherly love mine has for me. A couple of years ago I was putting a transmission in my old cougar, it was sometime in the earlier part of the year and was about 20 degrees outside and my dad decided he was going to help me get it in quicker.. Well after I get everything cleaned under the car we notice that it's not high enough to get the trans under it and we have to jack it higher, when I say we I mean him and a friend of mine since I was still under the car. Well someone gave me a heads up about two seconds before they pulled the jack stands and started lowering the car. I couldn't roll out from under it fast enough so I was stuck under the car in the trans tunnel wondering if I was going to be crushed or just stuck there until they decided to let me out. Did I mention it was cold out there? Well they had their fun and left me there and went inside for a drink and to warm up with me yelling at them to let me out, not happening. I hear them come back out about five minutes later laughing and they finally let me out. Now that wasn't enough they had drank all the hot chocolate in the house! and I was stuck with drinking coffee to warm up. You've gotta love that father son connection. :slap: Boosted1 01-11-2005, 12:32 PM My dad is the one who got me into cars. On nice summer evenings, we will cruise together, me in my VR4 and him in the Mustang HE bought from ME. Normally we'll shine them up really nice first, and then cruise. We take the highway a few times, and usually someone will try to start something. It normally ends up with them seeing a flash of blue (and hearing a roar), and then a flash of red. The two cars are dead even. On Tuesday nights, we wash them and show up at the car show in town together, where we get around and meet people with some serious machines (Vipers, gorgeous Chevelles, things like that). It's all good when you can come home and tell your kill/death stories to your dad and brother. Good times, good times. :smokin: qr25sentra 01-11-2005, 01:22 PM on x-mas day we were headin home in the titan, and my mom was drivin and a few rsx's are swervin behind us and one of them gets next to my mom so my mom floors it and my dad told her to stop lol she got the jump and had to stop lol. my dad wants to drop a 350 crate motor in his chevy silverado and a new tranny. i think the best is my friends dad, he lives in central florida and he owns a 600hp model T and he calls his son all the time tellin him how he "just made a viper look stupid" and my friend put him on speaker phone and i was just diein laughin bc he is 60 yrs old.. the other day he called and told him that he got smoked by a boss hog with nitrous.. it was good shit. he races on the track and on the road. keerus 01-11-2005, 05:59 PM my dad and i went to the track a couple of weeks ago. i took my camaro and he took his viper. on his first pass, the heater hose blew off. antifreeze all down the track. they had to close down the track for an hour and a half to clean up the mess my dad made :) CivRacer95 01-11-2005, 06:27 PM Vipers tend to overheat alot. Even if I had the money, I never would get one for that reason. Car and Driver did a test once with the Viper SRT-10. Very fast car, but it runs extremely hot. My uncle test drove one, and the it had the same issue with overheating. Tends to happen a lot. Late... Scoped_GST 01-11-2005, 07:15 PM Ehhhh, there are no moments with me any my dad. He used to own a modified(to what extent he wont tell me) RX7 which my mom hated to hell and back, and he sold it when i turned 13 or so when I didnt know much about cars, and I havent seen it since. btw, he now hates people who street race and will avoid talking to me about any modifications to his RX7...but I think its better this way.
