Check Engine light - EGR Valve

Hello,

I have a recurring problem with my '98 Tahoe. The "Check Engine" light comes on every once in a while (re: every six months or so) and when I've taken it in to the dealer they tell me the EGR valve needs to be replaced.

They also tell me they can clean it and reset the computer so the light goes off and then it should be good for a while again.

Well, it's done it again and I'm going to attempt to clean it myself, but I'm not sure how to reset the "Check Engine" light.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or help on this matter?

Thanks

Re: Check Engine light - EGR Valve

you need a scan tool or something of that sort, either that a certain # of ignition cycles will rid it if the problem is gone...The only prob is you won't know for sure when you put it back unless you have the scantool....
