The sound/speakers has been randomly cutting out. It happens very randomly in all types of conditions (vehicle on/off, hot/cold weather, etc.), though for awhile I would have the problem daily during the summer when its was hot outside.

It appears that the radio tuner still works (I can see it tunes into the stations) but I hear no sound.

Usually, when I go to start my car the next morning, the speakers will be back on but blaring loud. Sometimes it takes a couple days before they start working again.

ANY THOUGHTS?

Also, I think my rear passenger speaker is blown. could this be impacting it?

check and see if any of your speaker are shorted, It prob overloading your amp and tripping it. You can unhook the rear pax one and try it.

I am having the same problem with my radio. I was wondering if you found the problem. Any info would be great.

I had this EXACT problem when I bought my 98 2-door last year. The speakers would cut in and out and usually when they cut back on they would be blasting. Finally I just took the stereo out (easy to do) and took it to the dealer. Because it was already out they were helpful in looking for the problem. Ultimately the problem was the interior amp. They did not know why, but it was shot and thus the whole stereo a piece of crapola. Id start looking for a new head unit unless cruising to silence is your thing. Also until you replace it just dont bother having the stereo on. My two rear speakers were blown by all the cutting in at extremely loud levels. Hope this helps.

I have a Black 1996 2 door and the radio volume is low and then real loud with out touching the knob. Sometimes with the A/C on it works ok and sometimes when it cold it ok. Is the interior amp inside the radio itself? Any ieads or help is needed. Thanks Dave
