Angry Battery/Power is being killed! HELP!

Ok, heres the problem. I have a 91 Passat GL. I tried to re-wire my deck (I was directed to a site from here that showed me a step by step process in which to wire an afternmarket deck in the place of the stock one). So, once I cut a few wires and ended up unsuccessful. I left the stock deck out and drove without music (which is fine by me). But after a day or so, my car was dead. No power at all! So I thought to myself that since i didnt need to use my key to turn on the stock deck, the cut wires must be draining my battery since theres nothing to stop it from draining. The car was working fine before I statrted to cut wires. So, when I put the stock deck back in, the battery still drains. I know its the deck thats doing it, is there a way for me to completely cut the power to the deck so my battery will not drain. My lights and everything works as well as fuses. Its just that blasted deck thats giving me trouble. How can I cut the power the runs to the deck so it wont drain my battery? PLEASE HELP! Thanks.....Wait...cant I just pull the fuse that powers the deck?

Did you have the amplified speaker (AKTIV) or the regular passive system?

Re: Battery/Power is being killed! HELP!

I believe I have the AKTIV...theres two boxes in the door panels with a speaker built in. 1 on the driver and 1 on the passenger side. I took out the fuse last night and charged my battery. I put the battery it back in and this morning I checked the car and the battery seems fine. Maybe I have to wait a few days to see results?

Cutting a wire wouldn't cause a draw unless it was a power wire that got shorted to ground. Each of those speakers has it's own power supply, make sure that you didn't do anything that caused them to stay on.

Aww man...I knew I cut a power wire from the harness because i didnt want those speakers on. I re-wired them back together and in still getting a drainage...cant I just unplug the harness to each amp so that no power runs to them? Bottom line is that i dont want the factory radio to work at all and still have life in my battery....so far it doesnt seem possible =(

Re: Battery/Power is being killed! HELP!

The back-up power for that system comes from fuse #22, all other power is only when the key is in the on position. If you pull fuse #22 & it still draws then it isn't your radio.
