325e turns over but won't startBMW@JMU 01-06-2005, 08:15 PM I can't get my 325e to start. Everything seems to be in working order because the night it wouldn't start, I was able to roll-start it and drive home. On another occasion it roll-started again. However, I'm not getting any spark when turning the engine over. The engine turns, and I have electric power. So I checked the iginition coil and it read some weird resistances. I'm not sure whether its due to my dads bad DMM or the bad coil. The coil I got from the junk yard has the same numbers. What's going on? -Thanks beemer5 01-07-2005, 12:04 PM try this... there are 2 sensors on the side of the trans.. from under the car on the drivers side you could see them... take the screws out and pull them out, unplug them to and switch them.. put them back in, putting the top on the bottom and the bottom on the top and see if it starts.. give this a try and get back to us BMW@JMU 01-07-2005, 01:18 PM I heard form another person that my problem could be due to those sensors. However, they said that if one isn't working, then the ecu won't let the engine spark or spray. How would switching them fix my problem and also, how can I check to see if these sensors are working? beemer5 01-07-2005, 09:43 PM the dealer told me that it would not work but I tried it and it did. If you switch them and it works then I think it would be the top one bad.. it is just something to try before you take it some where.. BMW@JMU 01-08-2005, 11:12 AM OK I'll try that. -Thanks BMW@JMU 01-08-2005, 09:22 PM I actually ran across a pair of sensors at a junk yard and put those one. They didn't work either. Also, I checked the main engine relay and it contacts when I turn the key. bmwdriver86 01-09-2005, 01:13 PM I had a similar problem and the mecahnic told me that it was a bad battery cell or bad battery block and not enough power was going to the engine to start it. I dont know how you would check that tho without hooking your car up to a computer to test. BMW@JMU 01-10-2005, 08:09 AM I don't think its the batter because I'm getting a little under 12V across the terminals. BMW@JMU 01-11-2005, 04:37 PM While away at school, my dad was able to establish that a piece off my clutch/throw-out bearing broke off, and after tumbling around my flywheel, knocked off the pin for reading TDC. I was wondering if the pin itself can be replaced or do you think I’ll need to get a new flywheel. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
