T100 vs 80's Pickup

Would you guys suggest getting a T100 (with the 3.4litre engine, supercharged eventually) over an 80's Toyota pickup (22r engine)? Im 17 and i htink for now the pickup would be the better choice... either way i plan to give it about a 3-5'' lift, larger tires (not super huge but larger than a stock Tundra tire).
The 80's pickup would be a good option because it wont matter if i hurt it really... easily fixed, which will help me learn more, and it wont cost me much.
I plan to do offroading.. maybe not anything too horrendous but i plan to have a good time in the truck :>
Also i love whitewater boating, though with either pickup i can pull a trailor if needed.

So which would be better ? o.0
