Hi~
This is my first post. We have a 97 ford explorer with 180,000 miles on it! Yes, tons of fun!
The 4x4 lights on the dash are flashing and it won't go on when I try and put it in 4x4. So the 4x4 is obviously broken....perfect for a nice snowy day in Massachusetts!!
Can I still drive the car, or should I expect other things to happen. The car is running fine, except for the flashing lights on the dash. I guess what I am asking is, will I cause it damgage to drive it.
Oh, and anyone want to take a guess at what the cost to fix this is going to be??
Thanks for reading and I hope someone has some advice for me, beside get rid of it, b/c it isn't in the finacial plan to do so yet! I wish it was!!

thanks for the link. here is a new one....the lights are flashing still, but the 4x4 high and low will go on when I turn it on and off, but the lights won't go on in the dash to say it is on, they are still flashing. So, does that mean it is on it's last legs or is it an electric thing with the dash? B/c I don't want to use 4x4 if it is trying to tell me it is breaking!
Thanks~
A

Try shuting the car off,
to let the computer re-boot.
Also, wash atound the wheeel wells.
Sensors can get dirty, and give
a false reading.
