97 tahoe wont start after short drive

I have a 97 tahoe with 130,000 miles runs like new until yesterday drove a short distance less than 5 miles got went into a store came out and would not start , crank nice and fast got good fire and fuel at the rail but would not start after 30 minutes and extended cranking finally started i think it may be a crank and cam sensor but i am not sure is how to check or if there is a way to check . any help is greatly appreciated. ps i better add it just started after i replaced cap rotor plugs fuel filter and two upstream 02 sensors.

I have a 98 2dr 4x4 350 w\136K and I occaisaonally have a similar problem. My truck will start, but when I put it in Drive and accelerate, I go about 5-6 feet and everything completely shuts down. The engine dies, the lights go off and even the time on my radio is reset. I throw it into nuetral, let it turnover a few times and it will restart. I know that it has only done it when just after starting I move from Park to Drive and press the gas pedal. I can reverse ok and only does it when i move from a parked position in a forward direction, but not everytime. It happened lastnight on a routine drive home after stopping at a store. Before that it has been about a month since it has happened last and back the it happened 3 times in one day.

I've searched several forums for a few weeks now and this is first thread I have come across that is similar to my situation.

I feel your guys pain. I had this problem for a couple of years. I replaced 3 fuel pumps in a matter of months. Finally a mechanic told me that there is a problem with the pigtail coming off of the fuel pump assembly. I replaced that with an ACDelco replacement and haven't had a problem since.

Regarding the cam sensor, if it is out, it will show up on an electronics test. It's easy to replace, it's under the distributor cap. Very inexpensive if you do it yourself.
