wife, while driving in the rain, lost traction and while braking, hit the curb with front left weel, we have a scratch on a weel and there is a scratch on a tire 0.5-1 mm deep, on a sidewall, about 1/4 inch long,
I bought Goodyear Conquest tire 3 month ago(195/70/14).
Is it safe to drive those tires now, can it be fixed, or I have to buy new tires?
thanks

If it isn't effecting performance or leaking it is fine. 1mm isn't deep so I would say you are fine.

The only purpose of the rubber on the side wall is to protect the cords from rotting. If there are no cords showing, or exp[osed to the sun, chemicals etc. you do not have to worry. I'd suggest filling the split with GE silicone gel to keep contaminations outs. This stuff if really great (any auto suply store or hardware). It comes in many colors, white clear and black for sure, and will withstand temp up to 600 degrees and is not affected by freezing nor chemicals, almost as tough as rubber and will last the life of the tire.
