bucks like in 4x4 but its only 2wd
ok i have a 98 s 10 pu, 2 wheel drive, when its cold and or wet, any time of the day, doesnt matter if its been driven or not that day, but when backen up or turning hard, its bucks like its in four wheel drive, i changed the rear diff oil it went away for a while but now its back, what could this be, my breaks lock up hard when its cold and wet out, they will lock up with no effort, they enguage they lock, is this all 4 or just one set? if just one set any idea as to which it is, theres no rust on any part of the break system, ive pulled apart and looked. Thanks in advance
Doug

your rear brakes. i know a lot of trucks with this problem, the rear brakes tend to lock up easy when you first start to drive.

The rear brakes grabbing is normal. Leave it.
The buck when reversing and hard turning is weird, can you describe it more?

Re: bucks like in 4x4 but its only 2wd
when i back out of my drive way and turn it will feel like its in 4x4 and your turning on cement, the jerking feeling around the corner, thats what it feels like, the rear end use to totally lock up when i was driven around, i changed the diff. oil and it went away, and now im noticeing this, could the two be related?

Don't think so, but you could be low on rear fluid due to a leak.

Check all transfer cases and differentials for fluid level.
Also, is your emergency brake stuck?

Ah, I see, sounds like a brake might be jamming when you are in reverse.
In reverse, the rear brakes adjust. Might take a look for something loose.

On a limited slip diff. you should be using what is called a friction modifier added to rear differential fluid. Change the gear lube again but replace part of the new lube with F.M. and problem should go away.
