Replacing windshield washer reservoir

I have a 98 with a cracked reservoir. Anyone know how to replace it and what the costs might be? I think my dealer wants $150.

That was a few years ago that I had to do it on my 96 Camry and if I remember correctly I accessed it through the wheelwell by removing the front cover from below. Also I picked that up from a near by wreck-yard for a fraction of the cost.

Cheers

Had to replace mine on 2000 Camry because I hit a broken light pole stub in a parking lot. It was lower than visible level when I was parking and smashed the tank.

I think I paid about $80.00 for it two years ago. Make sure you ask about ordering it without the electric pump. Then you can use your existing pump (if it still works).

I tried the junk yard route, too, but at the time, I couldn't find any that would fit.

It's replaced from underneath. Has a few bolts, but it's been a while so I don't remember exactly how. Wasn't too hard though.

$150 for new tank and pump installed at a dealer seems about right.

Thanks. I've googled and can get it for $40.

Re: Replacing windshield washer reservoir

Go to your local u-pull-it wrecking yard and take a shot at removing the reservoir from a wreck. You'll get the opportunity to work on a vehicle that you don't have to have on the road right away and you'll get a feel for what it will take to remove the tank. If it turns out to be more trouble than you are willing to put up with then you have confirmed that spending the money to have someone else do it is the right course of action for you. If you get the tank removed from a donor car then you are half way to replacing your own and will have the experience to make the job much easier the second time around (when you swap the one on your car).
