Question Low engine "Growl"

We just purchased a 2002 F-250 supercab 4x4 and are encountering a strange engine "growl" when the truck is warmed up and and shifts into gear between 45-55mph. This usually happens when the RPMs drop after shifting. The mechanics at the dealership seem perplexed. (thank god for warrenties) Would anyone have any idea what that could be.

An engine growl eh... that's odd. I can make a few calls on your behalf and see if i can't help you figure what it is. Is your F250 a diesel or gas?

I have a similar truck with V10, always has a deep growl at low RPMs, but that is just from the power of the motor. Sure your growl is not just the deep exhaust?

Re: Low engine "Growl"

I have a 2002 F-250 gas and I have the same noise when it goes into OD. If I turn the OD off it doesn't do it. It just seems like the OD shifts too soon or the OD gear is too low. I'm just guessing but I do want to find out.
