Angry Heeelllllppppppp111111

I have a 2004 Tahoe Z71 4WD that has had, interestingly, many weird problems in the last year I have owned it.

The newest, and most frustrating, problem is: Whenever the gas gauge registers 1/4 tank, and it says I have about 100 miles left to go before empty, it WON'T start if it is parked on a slight incline. I mean, totally won't start. We have to go get a container of gas and add it to the tank---the last time it took about 5 gallons. Then, bingo, it started. Why is this happening? Any ideas?

This is a very slight incline, by the way.

FYI--I have had a rash of electrical issues over the last year. One of them was that, over a month or so, it twice registered an empty tank on the gauge when there was plenty in the tank. The gauge then would suddenly show the correct amount after a few minutes. It's as if it were frozen or something. Help!

Sally

Well sally you are seeing an incorrect sending unit. When you fill up does the gas needle go way past the "full" mark? It can be expensive to replace the sending unit to fix this "annoying" issue.

Track the milage and fill it up at every 350 miles or so.

Re: Heeelllllppppppp111111

what is up with gm and their gas guage/tank problems? on the older s10 blazers and s10's you could never be on an incline with anything lower than a quarter of a tank as the vehicle would stall and now it seems they have fixed that problem but i see a lot of faulty or broken gas guages (2 of my friends, both with silverados do not have accurate guages)

I had an old '95 that, when the tank got to about 1/8 full, would stall the engine from lack of fuel whenever I applied the brakes moderately (or enough to slosh the fuel forward in the tank). At least that's what I always thought it was. Good times let me tell you.

exactly, nothing like coming down a hill slowing down to make a turn and having your engine stall leaving you with no power brakes or stearing to make the turn. hell, ive sat on an incline at a fast food restaurant waiting to pull out and had my blazer stall many times, the only thing i could do is wait for a big gap and let it roll out into level ground only to hope that i could get fuel to the engine fast enough before traffic came, and well one time i couldnt so i had to get out and push the car back up the hill. apparently my adrenaline kicked in seeing all those cars cause i didnt even have any shoes on while pushing the car back up the hill. but like you said, good times i tell you.

fuel delivery

maybe your fuel pump inside the gas tank,my wife had the same problem with ours when we first got our 98 tahoe,it never did it on level ground, but she parked it on a incline 1 day and she called and said it would not start.had to get it towed and when the man let it down on level ground it started right up.so maybe you should get your fuel pump checked out.
