Help? I have 5 new-b questions regarding the 510.uranium235powered 01-01-2005, 01:18 PM I might buy one as a daily driver. Setup for the car would be for street. 1. How much do 510's go for? 500 - 2000ish? 2. How rare are they? Can I get one easily in the Toronto area of Ontario, Canada? 3. How is the aftermarket of 510's? Do I need to go all custom? 4. How easy is a SR20DET or a VG30DETT engine swap? How much would parts and labour be for it to work? 5. The 510 is rear wheel drive, right? Xander_42 01-15-2005, 06:39 PM 1: Cost: $500+ 2:Hard to find but not too rare, you should be able to find one, but it may take some looking 3: Extensive aftermarket you can do almost anything with these cars, if your willing to spend the time, money, and to do the research. 4: Not sure, SR20DET is popular, so it should be relatively affordable at the right place, engine is about $2k usually, other parts and labor I wouldn't know. 5: Yes RWD You said you were thinking about using it as a daily driver from experience I must say it takes a lot of time and money to make one a good aily driver. Xander_42 01-15-2005, 06:44 PM I forgot to mention you asked about VG 30DETT swaps that's not a very workable idea, because (even though it is awesome) it does not fit with the front struts, if you want to see one that has been done though search the web for pictures of Michael Spreadbury's VG30DETT 510, it is pure genius. uranium235powered 01-16-2005, 01:11 PM okay, thanks! datsunscom 09-13-2005, 09:50 AM I forgot to mention you asked about VG 30DETT swaps that's not a very workable idea, because (even though it is awesome) it does not fit with the front struts, if you want to see one that has been done though search the web for pictures of Michael Spreadbury's VG30DETT 510, it is pure genius. The front struts have no bearing on the VG30DETT being workable in a 510, the frame rails and steering box are the problem. If you notch the frame rails and convert to rack & pinion the VG30DETT will fit. While I *love* the swap I'm not sure why anyone else would do it - a VG30ET is somewhat simpler and an SR20DET is downright easy in comparison. Build either of these two engines and you can get to the same power level of a stock-turbo'd VG30DETT. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
