Cabin Filter 01' Grand Prix

Hey guys:

Just came back from a quick lube place and the young guy their showed me that I didn't have a cabin filter installed. I never heard of the filter and have never had anyone to check it before. Is this a necessity? I have driven the car for more than two years without the filter, like I said I didn't even know it was there, should I get one installed? Also he said I needed a transmission flush, the car has 150,000 kms on it should I get this done soon, it's hard to believe these quick lube guys some times , as I am sure that they work off of comission.

Thanks guys

You better believe their on commision !!!
I was once a lube guy - We were expected to get fifteen dollars in extra sales on top of the oil change, then if we got above that we got a sales bonus.
Each pay period they would post how many cars each tech had worked on and average the sales among these cars.
We only got a bonus if we were above fifteen per car.

These guys are not all mechanics either - I had to show many new guys how to change oil, check air filter, etc.....

I also witnessed some techs pretend to change coolant, driveline fluids, etc...

The filter helps keep crap from falling into the air box like leafs and debris and also when you turn the fan on you wount get dust in the air of the cabin of the car.

Re: Cabin Filter 01' Grand Prix

No offence intended Kid, just thought some people might get confused by "Change oil and filter", I figured they may think you were saying engine oil and filter.
Not everyone knows that there is a tranny filter.
