99 S-10 Chevy Blazer I Am Not Getting Power To The Fuel Pump I Checked Fuses And Releys And They Look Ok, Is Any Other Thing That I Should Check That Cut The Power To My Fuel Pump?

look ok? did you actually check them with a multimeter. you cant tell if there good by looking at them. if your fuse is good check the relay by jumping the 30 and 87 or 30 and 87a terminals. if your fuel pump turns on when you jump the terminals the your relay is bad. if not, check your fuel pump. see if you have voltage to the fuel pump. if you do then your fuel pump has lost its life. replace it. if you dont have voltage to the pump then you need to check the wires/connectors from the pump relay to the pump.

I'd be curious to know if it's the relay or the fuel pump on your S-10 because on Dec 24, as my boyfriend & I were driving home from digging his father's car out of the recent NE Ohio Snowstorm, his 4WD 1999 S-10 died in the middle of the road. It gave no warning at all. It just stopped and wouldn't restart. I managed to walk home (brrrr), get my Ford Focus and proceeded to pull his Chevy S-10 back home with a strap (I bet that was a sight) through the snow.

Tonight, we were told it's the fuel pump and to expect to pay no less than $450 for the pump itself, with another $400 in labor!! For a Chevy?? I mean, it's just a Chevy! Is this fuel pump made of GOLD? A new pump comes with a 2-year warranty - the mechanic advised against trying a junkyard salvage due to the possibility of it not "matching" the computer.

We have to decide, fix the truck or ditch it because of the fuel pump... Any help? Is this a frequent defect in the 1999 S-10? Or is it possibly a recalled item? Any suggestions will be much appreciated... thanks - and by the way, if it's your fuel pump, you have my sincerest condolences...$$$$$...

I just put one in my 99. I paid $307 and did it myself. One thing I noticed AFTER the pump was in, the ground for the pump was not making very good contact. On the left inside of the frame near the back there are two wires with a 13 MM bolt holding the terminals to the frame.
The frame was covered in some kind of undercoating from the factory
so I cleaned it up for a good contact and everything was fine. I'm not sure if that was my problem all along but it would be a good thing to check.

See many of these pumps fail with under 100K miles on the speedo. The pump assy is expensive but that labor charge is out of line. Two hour job. Six bolts, remove bed, R&R pump and replace bed.

Thank you fixnfly and tom3 -- I still think it's either the relay or the ground wire (my dad had a similar problem with a Toyota pickup where the ground wire was not insulated properly, it corroded and "disappeared" but the dealership insisted it was the fuel pump). Once the vehicle is in the hands of a mechanic & it's not driveable, we're sort of at their mercy. The mechanic did call me back this morning to advise that he found a "cheaper" pump ($297) with only a 6-month warranty, and he came down to $168 in labor...
