Thick black ooze 95 prizm

Merry Christmas! I have been noticing for two days that when I have been driving my car and then stop it and let it sit for a minute, there is a drop of a very black, thick, oozy liquid almost near the mid section of the car on the ground. It sat all day and when I got home the fluid was still wet and gooey, so I am sure its not motor oil. Could this be manual transmission fluid?

It could be fluid from the transmission. Make sure that your drain plug and filler plug are on there tight. If they both are, check the engine oil pan to see if anything is loose or coming from there.

interesting enough, manual transmissions use a type of oil similar to that of a motor oil, but its thick and oozy I would seriously think that it would be motor oil. Check around the head gasket area and your oil pan gasket area. Those are always two good places to check. Also it sounds like you really need an oil change. keeping your oil changed gives more life to your engine. It is usualy simple to do and cheaper than taking it in to get it changed.

Re: Thick black ooze 95 prizm

Actually, the oil was just changed. I have had a transmission seep for a while now and it might just be showing itself on the ground now. The oil is fine and the engine was just rebuilt. If you say that transmission oil for manuals is thick and oozy and that is what I'm seeing, then that is most likely what it is. I have never let my oil get oozy in my engine. That would just be horrid and I don't think I would be on an automotive chat room if I didn't know about doing oil changes! Ha. Thanks for your reply though.

I don't know, I've seen pretty stupid people on this website. Understandable though, it then does sound like your transmission. Can you get a manual, they are worth the money. See how to change your transmision fluid, its more difficult than a automatic.

Now my dad was telling me that his friend was parked in the same spot as me and was leaking nasty gooey fluids. I hope that was the case.
