I was driving my car one day then I noticed that it was going to H on the temp guage. So I poped the hood and everything was bone dry, the plastic container and the radiator itself. So I filled it up, but I think it is leaking. I was wondering where the hoses are and should I just replace the lines? Does anyone else have this problem? The antifreeze seems to be dripping from the passenger side, right by the muffler, I would look myself, but its like 5 degrees outside and I would freeze my ass off sitting on the ground. Any ideas?

Probably one of your hoses for the rear heater is leaking. Replace it or tighten the fitting, whatever turns out to be necessary.

Where would I find this hose, and do you mean the rear heater that is on the bottom of the center console?

Also, I'm not sure if these problems are related, but On the passenger side it sounds like a muffler leak. But I had my muffler and cat converter and gaskets tested and there are no leaks. The sound is like when you have your heat or ac on low. Can this have something to do with the radiator/hose leak?

If you have a '97, then to get to the rear heater unit by removing the front seats and the center console, and slide the carpet backward. You may be able to access the hose connections from below the truck.

Depending on what year 4runner you have(you really should be more specific as not all years have same parts and solutions differ by symptoms stated here because of that fact)the fan on low noise may be coming from back of your console which has a fan speed control if same on my 92 4runner V6 4x4(sit in rear seat and look down at back of console between front seats )goodluck

The heater lines are metal from the firewall back to the rear heater core were they are connected by hoses, they are not very big and look like oversized brake lines.
If you have a V6 there could be a problem with your head gaskets, since you mentioned "but On the passenger side it sounds like a muffler leak"
The head gaskets on V6s usually develop problems with the #5 or #1 cylinders on the outside ends. If you are "losing" more fluid than is visibly leaking it could be going out the exhaust through a compromised HG.

I haven't heard anyone mention the water pump, so that's what I'm going to tell you to check for leaks

Well, I feel stupid, the heater in the back was on, thats what made it sound like the muffler was leaking. I found the antifreeze lines. There were 2 of them and they were all rusted through. I patched the leaking area then primered the lines with spray paint, hopefully it will hold until it gets warmer for me to fix it outside.
