1994 sunbird "check engine" light

Hello!
Everytime I have to accelerate between 50 and 65 mph,my "check engine"light comes on while I have my foot on the gas pedal. As soon as i get off the pedal the light goes out...what gives? Is it a sensor?water pump and oil pump all working ok. car only has 45,000 original miles and while i plan to take it and have it diagnosed via computer,I wanted to know if anyone knew about this issue and how to address it BEFORE i take it to a mechanic....thanx

have your m.a.p. sensor checked or go through and check vacuum lines.
