help needed with 2 faults on shogun

hi
im hoping some one can suggest a cure to the 2 faults i have on my shogun 2.8 td lwb

the first one is when the vehicle is cold it is difficult to get it to go through the gearbox (manual box) seems to want to crunch into gear
just fitted a new clutch so that eliminates the clutch seems to have enough clearance on the clutch pedal have bled the slave cylinder just incase but what is the smaller cylinder for just infront of the slave cylinder and does this need bleeding
when the vehicle is warm the gear change seems fine

problem 2 is when going either up or down a curb edge on the drivers side there is a loud clunk to be heard from the front of the vehicle
checked bushes etc but cant seem to locate the noise or any looseness
in any bushes etc

any help would be grateful in rectifing the two very annoying problems

thanks
