hey guys, well i am 16 and i just recently started getting into cars. i am looking forward to getting maybe an evo 8 once i turn 17, which is still another good year. but, i want to know if that is my best buy. give me any ideas on what you guys would think is a better car for the same price. and give me reasons why too, so i can back up my opinion once i take it up with my dad. thanks a lot guys.

i doubt your dad is going to buy you an evo, no handling in the world can prevent you from hitting things. If you absolutely have to get a lancer, get a ralliart, they're plenty fast for a HS kid.

i got my 98 eclispe gst like 2 months ago when i was 16. $6900 w/ 104k miles.. its still running strong. i suggest u get a eclipse GSX or 94+ 3000gt VR4 or SL and mod the f*** outa it with that kind of money. New car= high insurance.

i would suggest getting a 90's something used car getting used to it then get evo when your 21 and your insurance will be a little lower and you'll have 4yrs of driving exprience under your belt. most people get into their most accidents withing their first couple years of driving.

I mean if you really want the evo, I would just tell him how crazzzy the handling is, and its got plenty of room for lil brothers sisters etc. Just be like dad its awd its roomy, just forget the part about the quickness and speed.... lol

The Evo is a great car but in most cases the Dealer mark-up 3K to 5K is insane. The cost to insure it for a driver under 25 years of age would be out of sight. The insurance payment would be more then the car payment!

I would buy a good low mile eclipse GSX or 94+ 3000gt VR4 and Modify the hell out of it!

Good luck and drive safe!

yeah if you have to have a lancer go for the ralliart its nice. 162 hp and sport suspension. as for gettin the evo, i recommend you get that ralliart and drive the hell out of it in a small autocross near you and get some experience under your belt then get that evo

He can be done to get the evo. I'm not the guy to crush someones hopes. I would think that if daddy can afford an evo he could also afford the insurance on it (teenager or not)

look guys I'm 19 with a ralliart their is nothing rong with it is hella fast. You can drop a used evolll engin in it if you wanted to. the ralliart is evolll based same trans exept mits took out the 4x4 trans. True insurance would be hi, but if you can get that eveo go for it, I WOULD. or you can go for an rs evo which is faster because it is lighter than the normal evos. I could have gotten one but I didn't know that the rs evo exsisted till recently. go for the evo who knows you might get it.
