The Type II was first available in '93 when it was introduced in the coupes. From 1993 through 1995, all coupes (L and LS) had the Type II engine.
In 1994 and 1995, the Type II was also available in the sedan form. A new trimline was added called the GS. The GS is basically an LS Coupe in sedan form.

Ok prolly a dumb question but, my mom has a 95 legend and i recently raced a 91 camaro with the 305 and a shift kit. kept up til 2nd then in third pulled hard. how do i tell if its a GS. her car looks exactly like yours except for the rims. the previous owner shaved the emblems.so i have no clue if it had a GS in the rear deck. could anyone help?

Easiest way is to pop the hood.
If on the engine, it has TYPE II, then it is a GS only GS came with TYPE II engine.
(Except for 93-95 coupes).
Other things, if she has TCS - Traction Control System, 6-speed, someother stuff that I can;t recall.

this is probably the first 91 coupe you will see with a Type II engine

no emblems
the legend has no emblems that indicate its trim level, that's too tacky. also, the 5 spoke 16 inch rims are only on Legend GS sedans, that is another way you could tell.
