Question 67 Bug

Short Background: Had a 67 Bug in the lat3 60's and used on dates with my wife. Last month bought 67 bug from young kid. Engine rebuilt and interior redone. Last night driving home from college where I teach, had to jump start car. On the way home noticed radio display flickering and going blank; engine stopped; could not jump start. Have lights and fuel. When car died I could hear starter click and then clicking sound stopped. Engine will not turn over. Any suggestions?

Re: 67 Bug

It sounds like a loose connection. Check all the connections from the battery + & - and the cable ends themselves. Follow the smaller positive cable to the voltage regulator & check the connections at the starter.

Thanks for prompt reply. Because I am a teacher at a local college, and since it is finals week, I will try your suggestions this weekend. Again, thanks and I will keep you posted. DJ

Re: 67 Bug

Might be a solenoid problem. If you're connections are all good, it's probably a starter (and / or solenoid) problem.

your car may be running on ur battery alone. Try charging the battery and checking the generator.
