i have been in this trouble
the button switch towards the rear is the "door ajar" switch and the switch forward is the "interior light" switch. It sounds like the door is not closing fully. I started by cleaning the rust and dirt from the 3 areas of slides (top, bottom, left towards rear). Use a lithium grease spray lube and keep in mind to coat the bearing wheels in the channels. On the bottom channel, make sure some debris isn't preventing full slide to the right. Junk gets in there- use a flashlight. The cone shape is the closure assy for safety and should be lubed and the hole it goes into should be clear. The rear switch can be pulled out with a needle nose when the door is open only a few inches. The switch can be adjusted by disconnecting the wires (put a spring clamp on the wires so you don't let em fall into the hole). Slide the collar back on the switch so it sticks out real far- it will adjust when you close it the first time...be gentle closing this first time. The interior light switch doesn't adsust and is probably intermitant- switch cleaner spray will probably fix it from the backside at the contacts but it could also be that the wire is loose connected to it.
good luck....bob
