Turn Signals

I have a 1999 Sunfire SE with about 65,000 miles. Recently, when turning on the right turn signal, the light in the instrument panel would flash twice as fast. Figuring it just needed a new bulb in the front, I replaced the light bulb(#194). This, however, didn't fix the problem. Now, the right arrow in my instrument panel is constantly illuminated. The bulb that I replaced works.....I can get it to flash when I put the hazards on, but it wont flash when I engage the turn signal or turn on the parking lights. Everything works normal/correctly on my left side, just not on the right. I'm not sure what the problem is....when I replaced the one small bulb, I saw a small unit near the bulb I replaced. Is it possible that this needs replacing, or is it the switch on the left of the steering wheel, or possibly a flasher in the dash? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated, thanx.

Re: Turn Signals

I had the same problem with my 98, turned out it was the bulb in the turn signal in the back, a 3157(in the back) was burnt out. Changed that and the signal light in the instrument pannel went out.

I'll have to check the fuses....just figured if the left side worked normal, all the fuses should be a.o.k. When you changed your back bulb, was it working before you changed it? My back one on the right(problem) side of my car works fine.....just flashes twice as fast. Thanx for the input guys.

Hey all, thanx for the responses, and thanx to GTP dad too. I finally got everything to work normal again. It turns out the 3357 bulb in the front was only half working - half of the filament would light for the hazards, but not the other half for the turn signal function. This solved my whole problem. Just wanted to let anyone know.
